Especially when you travel with family and you have a small child or a sick or disabled member with you. To solve these problems of passengers, Union Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has taken a big step. He has started ‘Humsafar Policy’ with emphasis on passenger facilities. Its objective is to provide security to the passengers along with better facilities.
Launching the ‘Humsafar Policy’ on Tuesday, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari said that under this, essential facilities like clean toilets and child care rooms will be provided on national highways. According to the statement issued by the government, under the ‘Humsafar Policy’, clean toilets, child care rooms, provisions for wheelchairs, EV charging stations, parking lots and lodging facilities will be introduced at petrol pump stations located along the national highways.

Helpful in increasing employment and business
The Ministry of Road and Transport said that this policy will provide a convenient, safe and enjoyable experience to the passengers using the highway. Apart from this, this policy will empower entrepreneurs, generate employment and increase livelihood opportunities for service providers. Gadkari said on the occasion that the ‘Humsafar’ brand will become synonymous with utmost safety and comfort for passengers and drivers on the country’s world-class highway network.
Highway network will be of top class
Gadkari also stressed the need to provide high quality, standardized services on national highways. He said that the Narendra Modi government is fully committed to providing top-class facilities on the highway network, ensuring a fast and seamless travel experience for all. The country’s highway network will be made top class.
Facilities available on expressway
Let us tell you that such facilities are being provided on the expressways being built in the country, but till now there is no facility at the government level for the convenience of the passengers on the highways. Now Gadkari has taken the initiative to provide expressway like facilities on the highways also and soon all the major highways across the country will be equipped with passenger facilities.
