Adarsh Kumar/East Champaran: As per the instructions of Urban Development and Housing Department, Bihar, Motihari Municipal Corporation will reward the puja committees that fulfill 10 standards of cleanliness in Durga Puja pandals this year under the ‘Swachhta Hi Seva’ campaign. The aim of this initiative is to spread awareness about cleanliness and promote cleanliness in puja pandals.

Under this scheme, a prize of Rs 10,000 will be given to the puja pandal coming in first place, Rs 5,000 for second place and Rs 3,000 for third place. Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Suman Yadav has appealed to all the puja committees to follow the prescribed 10 standards of cleanliness and take advantage of this award scheme.
10 standards of cleanliness
The following standards have been set to ensure cleanliness in puja pandals:
1. Complete hygiene and cleanliness of the pandal.
2. Proper system of waste management.
3. Availability of male and female toilets.
4. Adequate arrangement of dustbin.
5. Facility of separate lines for visitors.
6. Attention to safety and lighting.
7. Establishment of food stalls at clean places.
8. Proper arrangement of drinking water.
9. Proper arrangement for drainage of dirty water.
10. Availability of sanitary napkins and hand sanitizers.

Along with this, the Municipal Corporation has also called for organizing creative activities like slogans, posters and media coverage to promote cleanliness with the help of local citizens and organizations. The Municipal Corporation has requested all puja committees to follow these standards and contribute in spreading awareness about cleanliness.
