Why is this telescope being discussed?
Let us tell you that this telescope is being discussed since its inauguration. Located at an altitude of 4,300 meters, it is the tallest telescope of its kind in the world which will now promote scientific research. DAE Secretary Ajit Kumar Mohanty said, ‘The MACE Observatory is a major achievement for India and puts the country at the forefront of cosmic-ray research globally.’ He further said that, the telescope will allow scientists to study high-energy gamma rays thereby paving the way for a deeper understanding of the most energetic events in the universe. The MACE project plays an important role in not only pursuing scientific research but also supporting the socio-economic development of Ladakh.
Inauguration took place on 4 October
