The election results of Jammu Kashmir and Haryana surprised everyone. The people of both the states gave a historic verdict. Gave clear mandate in both the states. But the election results of Haryana are such that neither BJP nor Congress had expected them. Even big cephalologists had not expected such results. For the first time in 57 years, a party has got a chance to form the government for the third consecutive time in Haryana. BJP will form a government with full majority by winning 48 out of 90 seats in Haryana.
Even BJP leaders were surprised by such a big victory and such a bad defeat surprised Congress too. Congress leaders had already made preparations to celebrate the victory, drums had started playing, firecrackers were bursting, jalebis were being served, conch shells were blowing, but by 12 o’clock in the day, it was 12 o’clock for Congress. Everything came to a halt and by evening, Congress raised questions on EVMs. Congress leaders said that Congress was defeated not by the public but by EVM, the results of Haryana are not acceptable. Congress leaders said that in the assembly seats where the battery of EVMs was 99 percent, Congress lost, where the battery of EVMs was sixty-seventy percent, Congress won. This cannot be a coincidence. But Kumari Selja said that whatever had to happen has happened, crying will not help, now it is the responsibility of the Congress high command to find out the reasons for the defeat.
But now there is only one question in everyone’s mind that how did this historical reversal happen? Where did Congress go wrong? Which strategy of BJP worked? Congress did not lose only in Haryana. Even though the alliance of National Conference and Congress got majority in Jammu and Kashmir, the performance of Congress there too was disappointing. What is the message for Rahul Gandhi in the results of Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir?
Haryana
There is no doubt that Narendra Modi’s victory in Haryana will work as a lifeline for BJP. Those BJP leaders and workers who had started doubting the capability of their party will be infused with new courage. Those who had this question in their mind whether Modi’s popularity has decreased would have got the answer. Just as BJP did not expect this victory, similarly Congress did not have the slightest apprehension of this defeat.
This defeat will demoralize those Congress leaders who were confident that Rahul Gandhi has got some power with which he will revive the Congress. Now they might be feeling that Rahul’s herb turned out to be fake. Congress had used all its strength in Haryana. The fight was not over how many seats the party would win. The conflict started over who would become the Chief Minister after victory? Those Rahul Gandhi who were thinking that now he will win one state after another and defeat Modi, will be shocked. Gin Rahul Gandhi Modi’s shoulders were beginning to appear slouched; he would now see a 56-inch chest in his dreams.
This victory of Haryana will also infuse new energy into Narendra Modi and now BJP will fight with new enthusiasm in Jharkhand and Maharashtra. The bargaining power of Congress will reduce in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. Now a Haryana victory will reduce Rahul Gandhi’s strength in the INDI alliance. On Tuesday itself, the alliance partners started saying that where there is a direct contest between Congress and BJP, it becomes difficult for Congress to win. But the question is, what is the reason for Congress’s defeat? It will take time for Congress leaders to find the answer to this question because they have not yet recovered from the shock of defeat.
Modi is right that whenever Congress loses elections, it questions EVMs and blames the Election Commission, this is not right. Kejriwal is right in saying that Congress got over-confident in Haryana. Congress leaders had considered victory certain. Rahul was made to understand that farmers are against BJP, with the arrival of Vinesh Phogat, the votes of Jats and women are sure, due to Agniveer Scheme, youth are also against BJP, hence now BJP’s fortunes are certain to sink. The atmosphere was created as if the return of Congress was certain.
The effect of this was that a fight over the chair started. Randeep Surjewala did not come out of Kaithal and Kumari Selja sat at home. This caused huge loss to Congress. This time the people of Haryana have given a clear message that the people will support whoever works on the land. Secondly, now the era of regional and small family based parties is over. The public accommodated the Chautala family. BSP and Kejriwal were also not given any price.
It is true that initially it seemed that the wind was against BJP, there was ten years of anti-incumbency but Narendra Modi quietly, silently made a strategy. The entire focus shifted to the fact that the election is not just about Haryana, this is an election to choose between BJP and Congress, an election against nepotism and casteism, an election between Namdar and Kamdar. Modi’s formula worked and Haryana created history.
Jammu and Kashmir
The election results of Jammu and Kashmir are also shocking. National Conference got more seats than expected and Congress’s performance was worse than expected. The National Conference and Congress alliance achieved a clear majority by winning 48 out of 90 seats. Although Congress has only 6 seats in it, the remaining 42 seats were won by the National Conference. The interesting thing is that out of 43 seats in Jammu, BJP has won 29 seats whereas in Kashmir Valley its account could not even be opened. Mehbooba Mufti’s party suffered the biggest blow in this election. Mehbooba’s party PDP won only 3 seats.
BJP’s victory in Jammu is not a big deal. The surprising thing is that Modi government worked hard in Kashmir valley, stone pelters disappeared, shops started opening, tourists started coming, shikaras started going on, cinema houses opened, free treatment started being provided in hospitals. Many such works can be counted which brought peace to the people of Kashmir and they started living a peaceful life. When many reporters interviewed the people of Kashmir, they admitted these things on camera. It is also believed that all this improved after the removal of Article 370. But after accepting everything, the same people did not hesitate at all in saying that they will not vote for Modi. National Conference got full benefit from this. Although BJP did not get votes, it must have been relieved that at least people appreciated its work. Now the problem of Farooq and Omar Abdullah will be that they have promised the people that they will bring back Article 370, but they will not be able to do this because only the Parliament of the country has the right to take this decision. Therefore, as long as the government of Farooq and Omar Abdullah remains in power, they will have to answer to the people on this matter.
Modi This is the biggest strength of BJP. Modi fights every election with full vigor and works hard. Haryana’s victory will now help Modi make a strategy for Jharkhand and Maharashtra. Modi’s victory will awaken new confidence among BJP workers in Maharashtra and Jharkhand. BJP’s bargaining power will increase in the Mahayuti alliance of Maharashtra. The party will fight with more courage in Jharkhand also. The biggest message is that BJP has succeeded in eliminating the fear that Congress and other opposition parties had created in the minds of Dalits regarding reservation during the Lok Sabha elections. In the coming days you will see that Modi will solve the remaining problems one by one. Just as the pension scheme was redesigned and made unanimous, similarly the issues related to farmers, youth and employment will be resolved one by one. This is Modi’s future roadmap, indications of which are beginning to emerge. ,Rajat Sharma,
