Congress will contest elections in Maharashtra under the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance and in Jharkhand in alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Rashtriya Janata Dal, which are also part of the India alliance. Many opposition leaders accused the Congress of relying on regional parties where it is weak, but not forging alliances when it feels it is strong in a state.
