New Delhi. Veteran industrialist Ratan Tata died late on Wednesday night in a hospital in Mumbai. The honorary chairman of Tata Group was 86 years old. For the last few days, he was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital in South Mumbai. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief over the demise of Ratan Tata, calling him a visionary business leader and an extraordinary human being. He said on ‘X’, “The most unique aspect of Shri Ratan Tata ji was his passion for dreaming big and giving back to others. “He was at the forefront in pursuing issues like education, healthcare, cleanliness, animal welfare.”
PM Modi said that Ratan Tata provided stable leadership to the Tata Group, one of India’s oldest and most prestigious business houses. The Prime Minister said that he had become beloved by many people because of his humility, kindness and unwavering commitment to improving our society. Recalling his old relations with the industrialist, PM Modi said that when he (Modi) was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, he used to meet him often.
He said, “We used to exchange views on various issues. I found his perspective very meaningful. This conversation continued even after coming to Delhi. I am deeply saddened by his demise. “My thoughts are with his family, friends and fans in this hour of grief.” Many other Union ministers have condoled the demise of Ratan Tata and appreciated his contribution.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said, “Ratan Tata was a stalwart of Indian industry, known for his significant contribution to our economy, trade and industry. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and fans.”
Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of great industrialist and true nationalist, Shri Ratan Tata ji. He selflessly dedicated his life for the development of our country. Whenever I met him, his enthusiasm and commitment towards the upliftment of India and its people always impressed me. His dedication made millions of dreams come true. Time cannot take away Ratan Tata ji from his beloved country. He will always live in our hearts. My condolences to the Tata Group and their countless fans. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti.”
Condoling the demise of Ratan Tata, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said that India’s Kohinoor is gone. Describing Ratan Tata as the pride of India, he said that with his departure the sun has set on the industry and the country has lost a rare gem forever.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge expressed grief over the death of Ratan Tata and said, “We have lost a precious son of India.” “An outstanding philanthropist whose commitment to India’s inclusive development was paramount, Shri Ratan Tata was synonymous with integrity and ethical leadership,” he said in the post on ‘X’. Kharge said, “Ratan Tata was an inspiration and role model for millions of people and made significant contributions to nation building. Our condolences to his loved ones and fans.”
Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said that Ratan Tata was a visionary who has left an indelible mark in the world of business and philanthropy. Rahul Gandhi said in a post on ‘X’, “Ratan Tata was a visionary. He has left an indelible mark on both business and philanthropy. My condolences to his family and the Tata community.”
