According to this, Delhi Traffic Police has issued challan against 18,478 accused in the case of drunk driving. If this data is to be believed then the record of the last 36 months has been broken. A huge amount will be collected from all of them as traffic penalty. 3 year record broken
The data released by Delhi Traffic Police has exposed the violations of traffic rules. It also highlights the growing fear of the police among those who disregard the rules and drive. Till September 15 this year, 18,478 challans have been issued by the traffic police on the charges of drink and drive. This number is the highest in the last 36 months. This number was 16,235 in the year 2023 and 2,320 in 2022. In this way, this year there has been a tremendous increase in the cases of drunk driving.
Highest number of cases in West Delhi
The highest number of cases of drink and drive have been reported in the Western district. According to Delhi Police, 1973 challans were sent in cases of drunk driving in this area. After this comes South-East District (1902), Central District (1752), South Delhi (1733), North Delhi (1731), Outer North Delhi (1384) and East Delhi (1382). Let us tell you that there are 15 police districts in Delhi. The least number of challans have been issued in Shahdara district (540).
