Lucknow. Yogi government has given a big gift to crores of electricity consumers of Uttar Pradesh before Dussehra. Electricity rates will not increase in UP. UP Electricity Regulatory Commission has rejected the proposal of UPPCL. Electricity rates will not increase in UP even for the 5th consecutive year and the bill will be collected at the already fixed rate only. Uttar Pradesh is the first state to do so. The Regulatory Commission has also rejected the proposal to increase charges on many items including connection connection and disconnection. Yogi government has announced a subsidy of Rs 17.5 crore this year.
The power companies of the state had demanded to increase the electricity rates but the Electricity Regulatory Commission, giving a festival gift to the consumers, refused to increase the electricity rates for the fifth consecutive year. Not only this, proposals were given by the corporations regarding various types of charges ranging from disconnection to connection. The Niyakam Commission also rejected these demands.
The Regulatory Commission also took other major decisions. In this, the proposed fee of Rs 50 for connecting or disconnecting connection on smart prepaid meter was rejected. The proposal to charge Rs 10 for SMS was also rejected. Consumers can take 3 phase connection at 3 kilowatts.
The corporations had shown a loss of Rs 11203 crore, which was rejected by the Commission. Further relief has been provided to electricity consumers. Electricity companies will not be able to arbitrarily increase the load of electricity consumers on the basis of reports every three months. According to the new system, one year’s report will be studied while increasing the load. The load will be increased on that basis.
