जींस नहीं तो लूंगी में आ जाएं क्या…ट्रांसफर पोस्टिंग से भड़के बिहार शिक्षकों का अब ड्रेस कोड पर बवाल

Patna. The teachers of Bihar, enraged by the new rules for teacher transfer-posting, had not calmed down yet when another order of the Education Department is adding fuel to the fire. According to the new order of the Education Department, teachers have been banned from wearing jeans and T-shirts during school hours. This decision has further increased the resentment among teachers. While some teachers unions have supported this move, many teachers are calling it impractical. The question is arising that who will provide financial assistance for the fixed dress?

“If there are no jeans, will a lungi do?”
Teacher Lakhan Kumar expressed his displeasure to Local 18 on this new order of the Education Department and said, “Jeans are a simple and sustainable option for us. It is also economical and after one wash it lasts for two-three days. If the government wants us to wear better clothes, then we should get allowance for it.” He asked sarcastically, “If you can’t wear jeans, then should you wear lungi to school?”

“We respect, you do too”
Lakhan Kumar further said, “There is a lack of continuity and clarity in the orders of the department. If we can’t come to school in jeans and T-shirt, should we wear lungi and kurta? Officials should treat us according to our position and dignity. We respect you, you respect us too”.

Financial assistance mandatory for dress code
State President of Bihar School Teachers Association, Amit Vikram, welcomed this order and said, “We have been demanding a uniform dress code for teachers for a long time. For this, not only the dress but also wearing the ID card around the neck should be mandatory. However, like other government departments, teachers should also be given allowance so that they can follow this order. If teachers go to school in a prescribed dress, it will create their positive image in the society and will be inspiring for children”.

What is the order of the education department?

The Director cum Additional Secretary of the Education Department has written a letter to all the DEOs directing that teachers and personnel should be present in schools only in formal dress. You will not be allowed to come to school wearing casual dress, like jeans and T-shirt. The department has also made it clear that this order will be strictly enforced.

Voices of protest and support are being heard among teachers regarding this new order. But everyone’s demand is to get allowance for dress. Now it remains to be seen what further steps the government takes in this direction, and whether any action is taken on the demand of teachers for financial assistance.
