खंडवा मंडी में मक्का के कम दामों पर फूटा किसानों का आक्रोश, इंदौर रोड पर चक्का जाम

Khandva: In Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, farmers got angry over not getting fair prices for their maize produce. Angry farmers registered their protest by blocking the Khandwa-Indore road. Farmers say that they are not getting the right price for their maize produce, due to which their costs are not being met. This protest forced the local administration and police to take immediate action.

Sudden fall in the price of maize
Farmers told that the prices of maize have suddenly fallen in Khandwa Mandi. Yesterday maize was sold at the price of Rs 2300 per quintal, whereas today farmers are getting only Rs 1200-1300 per quintal. This huge decline has seriously affected the economic condition of the farmers, which has aroused their anger. Due to not getting fair price for their produce, many farmers are not able to recover the cost of their crops, due to which their problems have increased further.

Administration and police intervention
As soon as information about the traffic jam was received, Khandwa SDM Bajrang Bahadur, Mandi Secretary, and station in-charges of the three police stations of the city reached the spot along with the police force. He tried to convince the farmers and told them that maize is getting low prices due to moisture. According to the market secretary, good quality maize is still being purchased at the rate of Rs 2300 per quintal. He also said that the prices of maize are higher in Khandwa Mandi compared to the mandis of other districts.

Tension increased due to rumor
Khandwa SDM Bajrang Bahadur, clarifying the situation, said that some people had spread rumors that farmers were not being given fair prices by traders. Due to this rumour, the farmers got enraged and created a blockade. However, when the farmers were made aware of the reality, they understood and ended their protest.

steps towards solution
The blockade ended after the administration’s intervention and assurance, but this incident highlights the concerns of farmers affected by fluctuations in maize prices. Farmers have demanded that they should get a fair price for their produce so that they can cover their costs and remain financially stable.
