Shahdol. A shocking case has come to light from Shahdol in Madhya Pradesh. A Devi Pratima, who was imprisoned by the police for 27 years, has been released after a court order. On Wednesday, devotees with great fanfare returned the idol to the place from where it was stolen. This case pertains to Jamuni village of Beohari police station area of Shahdol. In fact, in the year 1997, the statue of Mata Rani suddenly disappeared from the Lodha Mata temple located in village Jamuni of Byohari police station area. At the same time, the complaint was lodged at Byohari police station by the temple priest Pyare Lal who went to the police station along with the villagers. On this, a case was registered in the police station against unknown accused under crime number 218/97.
The Beohari police had recovered the idol of the goddess within 15 days of registering the case. The thieves who stole the idol were also arrested, but in this case a case of theft had already been registered. For this reason, this statue had to be returned as per the legal process, hence for security reasons it was kept in the goods warehouse of the police station, which was kept there for the last 27 years.
The case was going on for 27 years
Social worker Ajay Singh told that this case of theft is 27 years old. When the villagers told us this, we reached Beohari police station. After talking to the police station in-charge there, he got the idol searched in his warehouse. After getting the idol, when we asked him for the idol, he told that the matter is in the court and hence a court order is required for the release of the idol. Only after that the idol can be handed over.
The court had given order for the release of the idol.
Ajay Singh said that we had also submitted a memorandum to the district administration in this regard, but even after submitting the memorandum, the work was not done. Then we presented our complaint in the court through our lawyer. After this, the court ordered to hand over the idol, which had been imprisoned for 27 years, to us villagers. After this the villagers were able to get back the statue of Lodha Devi.
Priest was walking barefoot for 27 years
Temple priest Rampyare told that he was very sad after the idol was stolen from Lodha Mata temple. I had decided that I would not wear slippers until the idol of Mata Rani was reinstalled in the temple. After this, the priest was walking barefoot for the last 27 years. Now after the temple idol is found and reinstalled, he will be able to wear slippers. Temple Priest Pyarelal told that the idol of Lodha Mata has been handed over to us by the police. After the idol was found, the villagers with great fanfare reinstalled the idol at the same place from where it was stolen. There is happiness among the villagers due to the re-installation of the idol during Navratri.
