New Delhi/Mumbai. Zoroastrianism originated in the sixth century BC in ancient Persia, today known as Iran. Prophet Zarathustra laid the foundation of the Zoroastrian sect by giving the message of one God. The vast empire of ancient Persia extended from Eastern Europe to Central Asia. But first Alexander and later the Arab invaders attacked and destroyed the religious and cultural heritage of ancient Persia and also completely destroyed all the literature there.
By the arrival of the seventh century, the Persian Empire had lost its glory and power. When the Arabs started the process of completely capturing Persia and turning it into an Islamic nation, the followers of Zoroastrianism fled to India by sea route to save their sect and first took refuge in Gujarat. After this he went to other states of India but mostly made Maharashtra, especially Mumbai, his place of work. Parsis accepted India as their country and merged into its soil. After that he never looked back.
